Summer Heat

Well, Summer's heat is on here in Florida, however the real heat that is bothering me is my passion for jewelry creating. My brain is wired on jewelry creations, I day dream about jewels always!

A recent trip, in fact to escape the Florida heat to New York City has inspired some newly created baubles now on display in my Etsy shop. One pair has already sold, Yay! Miracles do happen! Must make more.....please visit my shop at this site http://www.msssixtiesjewels.etsy.com/, yes it is spelled with 3 "s".

I am getting up to speed making bracelets now and soon, like in the next week or so, I will begin my hand at pendants. I have not quite found my niche yet, I have created everything from fun play jewels under 15.00 to higher end pieces using gorgeous gemstones and everything in between. I will begin working on some additional higher end pieces in the late summer, I think my skill level is improving!

So for now, I am beating the summer heat by staying inside, sitting comfortably at my work desk and making all sorts of baubles. Wish I had the NYC park view out my window always! Stunning!

Erk N' Jrk Creations: Treasures from SSODS

Erk N' Jrk Creations: Treasures from SSODS

Did I Mention Flowers?

Yes, again this year I made some really cute flower arrangements for a senior center fundraiser fashion show and luncheon...these were donated as a gift to the women attending the luncheon. These arrangements contained Gerber daisies, hot pink and bright yellow roses and soft pink peonies with ribbons and some with added jewels...I am a huge collector of all kinds of ribbon, you might say I hoard it..I love using it freely in flower arrangements, gift wrap and at the holidays watch out..in garland and on the tree!

I am posting a few pics....beside working on my jewels, I love to create flower arrangements for special events...if I could I'd have fresh flowers in my home daily! It happens pretty often though that I will stop by my favorite flower shop for a dozen or two roses. I prefer flowers in pure form by themselves with little greenery as trim....never do I use baby's breath or ferns....sometimes all it takes is a quick trip to the yard to find just the right touch of greenery to accompany that special arrangement...one year I spray painted leaves silver and gold for the holidays for that special touch on the table using yard greenery....an advantage to living in the deep south...it is green all year long!

Enjoy!

Silver n Sixties..YES!

It is about time that I wrote something on this dang blogger...I've been so busy I can't see straight..busy with my jewely sales. My new store Silver n Sixties store is finally coming together. I created my first piece of jewelry to go into this Etsy store.

My goal is to create glitzy and glamourous jewelry pieces that people can afford to purchase in this poor economy. When the economic situation gets better I will create higher end pieces but for now I believe people should be able to make a small splurge on something very glammy for themselves. This is what my Etsy store is all about.... my new Etsy store Silver n Sixties will be tailored for the diva that just loves to wear black and diamonds!

Love,

Never, Ever Enough Time in One Day....

Time passes so quickly, I can hardly believe it is going to be St. Paddy's Day tomorrow. I have yet to really get this blogging thing down to a science. Much less do any of things I have set out to do with it...
I have added many new pieces of jewelry at awesome prices to my etsy.com site.
Here is my newest creation and one of fave stones, lemon quartz...these stones are quite large, clear and just succulent breath-taking gems....tell your friends to take a look at my shop. http://www.msssixtiesjewel.etsy.com/.
Lemon Quartz Quick Facts
Lemon quartz is known in folklore to enhance mood, ease ill thoughts and depression, it is a "feel good" stone! Just looking at this beauty gives me increased feelings of goodness. The stone gets its' color from a large content of iron and it is process treated with gamma rays for an increased in lemony color or this process sometimes yields a gorgeous orange color. It is also known as citrine. Without the iron content quartz can turn purple in color, known as amethyst...interesting, huh?
TTFN...next the magical mystical magic of Pink Tourmaline, another fave jewel.

Bejeweled Bracelet....

Well, I did it today. Made my first ever bracelet...and now I am on my way..to more. Check it out on www.msssixtiesjewels.ets.com It did not begin the way I had planned to, but the end result worked out just fine!

I began to make it with stringing wire but did not have all the stones I needed, nor did I feel I had all the right tools. So I will have to hold off on that style until I can get it just right. It is sure to be stunning though. I am very excited about it!

I am continuing to make very slow headway to my silver n sixties store. Getting my new banner and biz cards designed...and will begin to make the jewels soon, too. Being sick last weekend sorta set me back a bit, but now I am moving forward again.
