Baubles for Less

I have finally started, against my deep love for precious gemstones, to make cute baubles in glass, crystal and also using base metals in place of sterling and gold. I want to try to appeal to everyone with my jewels and to make them affordable to all.

I admit I love natural gemstones, sterling and gold. I will use this blog to begin some lessons about semi-precious gemstones. For now, with hard economic times, I will use the less expensive supplies and findings to create..although...I do have some gorgeous gemstones still in stock to create very special jewels. My favorite is pink and green tourmaline and whiskey quartz...oh I love lemon quartz too! Just to die for, that color is stunning.

A few things to come..giveaways, educational information on semi-precious gemstones, how I put my proceeds to use for charity and more jewels in a new "silver n sixties" store.

For now, it is Sunday evening, I need a cocktail, and to relax by checking out my Vintage Barbie collection to see what my next collectible item will be...I think a 1967 Mattel Outfit called Pink Sparkle...

Sales, Sales Sales?

Jewelry sales on Etsy.com are rather slow and I've got to come up with ideas to better market my baubles. Any blogger out there with pointers are welcome. I admit I've not paid enough attention to marketing, however, I am gonna do better in days to come.

I am going to begin creating a line of earrings under 10 bucks so everyone can (hopefully) afford to purchase something from my shop if so desired...I also have three opportunities to sell these jewels in the community, so I shall see how that goes! Whoo, hooo! The most difficult task is time management and deciding to dedicate your time to this craft, no matter what else may need attention. Commitment!

eBay always does well for me..it seems no matter how poor the economy seems to be, people still love to shop for clothing and they buy..I wish I could sew!! My goal here is to make a line of glamour jewels that anyone can afford.

I have a new idea for a shop called "Silver n Sixties" glamour baubles in silver, crystal and black, including bracelets..Keep posted for more news on this little endeavor. I have the best graphic designer to help this idea come to life! Thanks for your support Mia! She shall also soon remodel my blog site as I get this one off the ground.
Patience is a virtue. Diligence is necessary. Confidence is immeasurable.

Slacker or Busy?

Some might say I've slacked off on my blogging commitment, and while that may be quite true, I've really been busy. Company visiting post holiday, taking down holiday decorations...10 Christmas trees in our home to take down, loads of gorgeous garland to disassemble, so this coupled with trying to keep my eBay and Etsy shops running...and oh, did I mention two careers to boot. Well, you get the picture I am certain, by this point, that, or you may have tuned out by now. And that's okay too.

I did have the good fortune of seeing the President while he was in town this week. It was quite awesome to experience. I will be blogging my experience soon. Pictures included. I am quite a fan of Obama!
So with this news and some spare time, I will have hammer another story out soon..in the meantime, please go and look at my stores on
msssixtiesjewels.etsy.com and you can find me on ebay as user ID mssixitiesdoll. TTFN.
